THE 10 SHE NEEDS!

Versatility is to be able to adapt, change, and reinvent. Similar to the way fashion and style reinvents and recreates certain and particular past trends. As we all know, what could be hot and happening today could be tacky and out tomorrow. With that being said there are a few items, which are staple to any woman’s wardrobe. To keep it short and simple I have selected 10 items that could, if possible, be worn to the office, a casual business meeting, or a night out on the town (versatility at its finest). They are as follows (order does not signify importance):

A black blazer: is such a versatile piece. this piece can be worn with jeans and a pair of boots. It can also be worn with a pencil skirt or trousers with a pair of shoes. The blazer in and of itself can be used to dress up and even dress down an outfit. Although a black blazer seems simple enough to find, you want to be able to find the right one. Just like with anything, it should fit to your body type—fitted and able to be buttoned.

A pair of flats: are important! For women out there, such as myself, who “don’t do the flat thing”… chuck the idea, every woman needs a pair of flats. It is okay to be comfortable. I promise! Get you a pair of either ballet flats or pointed flats; whatever suits your preference, in neutral colors such as black and beige. Getting color flats isn’t a bad idea either.

A little black dress: ah, the little black dress! I, myself, have a few of black dresses. You want to make sure to get different variations of the “little” black dress, as you can’t wear a little dress to an office setting. Essentially, the little black dress such as the black blazer can be used to go to work, to the bar with friends, or out on a date.  If you’re wondering how little can the dress be, my personal advice, don’t let it be shorter than 2 inches above your knee. This length is suitable for any event without the judgmental stares.

A classic trench coat: can fit for such a mysterious and professional look all at once. The length in a trench coat is just as important as the buttons and where the belt is placed. For a shorter statue I would recommend and short trench as sometimes, us, fun sized people feel we look shorter in longer clothing pieces.  The belt should be at the waist and the buttons, well; I think the more buttons the better. But, remember always choose what you see yourself wearing and lastly, fits you.

A pair of dark blue denim jeans: is a piece you can never go wrong with. I must own about four different pairs all from mid-rise to high-waist. Throughout the years I have changed where I get my jeans from. For a while I was getting them from Urban Outfitters (BDG), then PacSun (Buffalo), now? I give all jeans a fair shot! I do not have a favorite jean, but I favor whatever makes my bum look superb.

A white button down shirt: can go perfectly with a pair of jeans as seen on Selena Gomez and Khloe Kardashian. It fits for a well put together look, but comfortable. To be comfortable and fashionable is something like a dream come true. My only tip with the white button down is although it doesn’t have to be tight, too loosely fitted makes for a sloppy look. Make sure it fits!

A pair of black pumps: can be lived in, or at least I live in heels. Not the best, but the only kind of shoe I feel comfortable in. To have a classic pair of black pumps, you can literally rule the world. Black shoes ALMOST go with everything. As for heel height and type of shoe, I personally feel it is up to your own personal preference. A pointed pump as well as a rounded pump are classic. No matter what fashion does, those two just don’t go out of style. Heel height should also be a personal preference as some can walk in 4-inch heels while others cannot. Pick a pair of black pumps that scream, you.

A scarf: is the accessory that serves more than one purpose besides completing a look. It can keep you warm on a chilly fall day or warm on a frigid winters day! Scarves come in all shape, colors, sizes, and knit. Waffle knit scarves is good for chiffon blouses, jeans, and a wool coat. Silk scarves are great for completing work ensembles. As a handkerchief scarf can tied around the neck with a button down blouse and some trousers. A cotton/polyester scarf is more for the fashion forward doll that wants to accessorize her plain Jane look. Scarves are the easy throw on item that can be taken anywhere. Throw it in your purse and you’ll have options.

A plain white tee: for those laid back days, park on a sunny day kind of days, shopping in the city with your girlfriends kind of days. A plain white tee can easily be paired with a pair of jeans, a pair of pumps, a scarf, and a blazer. The plain white tee can fit so many different events without question. Sometimes the plain Jane route can help the most fashion forward ;).

A watch: can say you’re responsible but can also say you’re always worried about what time is, as if where you’re at isn’t where you want to be. Although certain pieces can leave people questioning you or why, a gold watch can absolutely dress up an outfit. Personally, it completes most of my outfits. A bare wrist almost makes me feel incomplete. A gold watch or a silver watch will suffice. I do not recommend a certain watch, because just like anything else watches come in all different shapes and sizes. Choose what best suits you.

Each one of these items can be used separately or together to create an outfit that no matter what fashion throws our way, still fits in. In addition, you can add your own quirky styles to create the look that screams you. Fashion is great, but your style should be you. Most of all, be comfortable and stay within what fits you!

lright boys, it is time to grow up and embrace one the very few perks of manhood.  I'm talking about your ability to rebuild your entire wardrobe with just a few ESSENTIAL items.  Men's clothing has not changed a lot throughout history, so you want to build a wardrobe based on items that will never go out of style, not creating a closet built on current trends because just as quickly as those items got big and became the fad of he moment they will fall out of style just as fast...then you'll be stuck with a closet full of size 3X whit t-shirts or Ed Hardy jeans.  These 10 items that I have selected will give you a versatile that will have you prepared to look great un any venue.

1) Levi's 501 - Classic, fit great, inexpensive and can be worn with just about anything.

2) Navy Suit- Navy is the most versatile color in your closet can be your business suit that becomes your happy hour suit in an instant.

3) Leather Jacket- a staple of the american mans wardrobe FOREVER and for good reason, it is an instant dose of cool o what ever your wearing.

4) Levi's Trucker Jacket - Great for giving a little character to an old t-shirt or crew neck and will give your outfit some pop.

5) White Oxford shirt-...Cuz you're a grown ass man!!! Get a white oxford and thank me later, you'll never be sorry for having this in your closet.

6) White Canvas Sneaker- Personal choices are the Chuck Taylor or Jack Purcell, both are clean and classic, plus neither will break the bank.

7) Stainless Steel Watch- Every man needs a great watch if they want to be taken seriously, avoid the iced out faces...that is all.

8) Black Lace Up Shoes- I like the cap toe (it's exactly what you're picturing in your mind) but as long as you get a pair you will be fine, this is gonna be your go to shoe for multiple occasions, dinner dates, power lunches and everything in between.

9) Grey Crew Neck Sweater- You can wear it solo, you can dress it up with a white oxford underneath, you can throw a leather jacket over it.  I don't need to justify it any further, it's like the swiss army knife of clothing.

10) Tweed Herringbone blazer- Great piece of outerwear that will give you an alternative to your boring black blazer.  Put a button down under it, dress it down with a t-shirt and jeans, either way you will look completely put together.

That it! Print this and max out your credit cards! ...Please don't actually do that.  All these items should be acquired over time but will give you a strong base to build the rest of your closet off of.  Rome wasn't built in a day and your closet won't be either, good luck. You're welcome.
